Greetings Polyrhythmic Roots family, this is Aaron Konkol, keys/melodica/dubs in PR. I come to you all with profoundly sad news. Cecilio Negrón Jr., drummer and driving force behind Polyrhythmic Roots, passed away suddenly & peacefully in his sleep on Thursday morning. As many of you may know we've been gigging a few times a month since March of '22, so apart from knowing him for many years via De La Buena & Urban Empress and The UrbanItes, for the last 14 months he was part of my regular musical reality.

Not gonna lie: this is really hard for me; I cannot imagine how hard it must be for his bandmates in De La Buena, The Urbanites, & especially Kings Go Forth, who just lost Black Wolf only 2 days prior, let alone his blood family & legions of students.

I always marveled at how CeeLoe would go out of his way to make me understand how much he genuinely appreciated what I was doing musically, but also any feedback I could give him on his drumming or advice about business, and made sure to thank me for coming "all the way" from Madison for the Milwaukee gigs. He was a real one, and will be greatly missed.

Rest in power, king. You will always have a special place in my heart.

The other 2 member of PR, Ras Amerlock aka Michael McCutcheon (bass) & Stuart (guitar) will be playing with The UrbanItes @ Saint Kate - The Arts Hotel tonight, where we had the majority of our gigs, and I will be in attendance, so if you're in Milwaukee I'd love to see you. Much love family.

Dearest community and friends,
We are devastated to share the news that our beloved brother, Cecilio Negron Jr. has peacefully and unexpectedly passed into the next world.

Details of life celebration will be forthcoming.

Cee Loe’s joy, energy and musical prowess will never be forgotten.

Though I am so grateful for the time we had with him, I am beside myself with grief and disbelief.

The two of us started this band together 20 years ago, and now there is a hole that cannot be filled.
