A Flood Watch is in effect for our areas through Friday, with heavy downpours bringing a significant risk of flash flooding and scattered thunderstorms.

Please remain alert for a low-end risk of brief, isolated tornadoes peaking on Thursday, alongside dangerous rip currents and minor coastal flooding at local beaches. Stay weather-aware, avoid flooded roadways, and ensure your severe weather alerts are turned on!

Last week, we had the privilege of hosting nearly 100 cadets from local NJROTC units from Pace, Milton and Navarre high schools for an action-packed Leadership Camp right here on base!

The students spent the week practicing drill, conducting physical training, performing hands-on training in the aviation simulators, and completing academics to include customs and courtesies, leadership principles and how to conduct inspections.

Congratulations to all the cadets who successfully completed this year’s leadership camp!

The NAS Whiting Field MWR library had a special visitor this week – Hammer the horse came to help kick off the summer reading program. Hammer is a therapeutic riding partner at Life Horse at Grand Review Farm, a nonprofit organization that provides equine-assisted support programs for veterans, active-duty military, and first responders.

This wasn’t Hammer’s first visit to the base; his previous visit inspired the book "Hammer Goes to Flight School".

Kick off summer reading by visiting the library and reading all about Hammer’s adventures. And make sure to sign up for the Summer Reading Program "Plant a Seed and Read" on the Beanstack app or by visiting "https://whitingfield.beanstack.org/". Log minutes and earn prizes!
