The Santa Rosa Education Association represents education staff professionals and teachers in Santa Rosa County. Santa Rosa EA is a local affiliate of the Florida Education Association (FEA), National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers. SREA is the only union able collectively bargain for Educational Support Staff. Our vision is to inspire, inform and involve members in
Had a great day at SPARK meeting new employees of SRCDS. Thanks to those of you who showed support and joined on the spot and to those who took the information on how to join.
As a reminder SREA is the only union affiliated with NEA and FEA on the frontlines of the fight for public education. We think that is important.
We represent both educational support personnel and teachers, however only collectively bargain for Educational Support at this time. If you have any questions please feel free to message.
2023-2024 here we come!
Excited to meet all the new employees at SPARK tomorrow!!!

If you haven't switched to eDues, the time is now! As of July 1st, due to state legislation, union dues can no longer be deducted via payroll. If you have any questions, please contact us.
Have you switched to eDues for 23-24 yet?
Members. Please check your inbox. Nominations went out for board members. Please take moment to consider serving.

Certain politicians are trying to cancel your union membership. Push back by signing up for eDues.
Legislators have just passed Senate Bill 256, a bill banning payroll dues deduction for educators and certain public employees. It is now on its way to the governor to be signed into law. This means your union contract and membership are in jeopardy. That is why we are asking you to switch to eDues.
The best way to protect your rights is by making the switch to eDues. eDues is the new way for union members to automatically pay dues. It's safe, secure and easy. We already pay for many things electronically, and eDues takes only a few minutes to complete. Protect your voice and rights by converting from payroll deduction to bank draft through eDues.
Your local union is working hard to roll out the eDues platform. You'll be hearing from your local soon about making the switch if you haven't already.
FEA and your local union are the only organizations fighting for our profession, our students and our public schools. Billionaires like Betsy DeVos and their corporate lobbyists contribute millions of dollars to politicians to pass union-busting legislation. They are experts at finding ways to divide us, crush hope and overwhelm us. But we will come back even stronger because of members like you who share a passion for ensuring every student has access to a great public education.
Tens of thousands of members like you are standing up for their profession and protecting the gains won through their local union contract. By switching to eDues, those members are saying loudly: I’M STICKING WITH MY UNION!
Now is the time to recommit to your union. Make the switch to eDues today.
In solidarity,
Andrew Spar, President

Dear Public School Employees (all of them), thank you. Thank you, bus drivers, for getting the kids to school and home safely. Thank you, cafeteria workers, for making sure those babies are fed. Thank you custodians for making sure the school is ready for those babies to return. Thank you maintenance workers for fixing all the broke stuff during the school year and summer. Thank you to teachers and support staff for drying tears (babies and parents), helping children find their classrooms, welcoming them back to school. Thank you district staff and admins. You are all amazing.

Join today!

Hanging out a SPARK! Looks like a great group of new ESPs and teachers. Welcome! We are the only Union in SRC that bargains for Educational Support. We are the only Union affiliated with FEA, NEA, and AFT. No gimmicks here, just representation!

Gorgeous day to celebrate the School Related Employees of the Year!
Congratulations ESPs! Your contract for 21-22 has been ratified! Thanks to all who assisted. Have a great evening.
Update: Cindy Walker will be at DAD beginning at 2:30 pm tomorrow, Wednesday, April 6th, for anyone who missed their opportunity to vote at theie work site.
Due to schools being closed tomorrow voting for the DAD complex will be moved to Wednesday from 4 to 5 pm. Anyone who missed the opportunity to vote at their work sites may also come to the DAD Complex to cast their vote during that time. Please share with other ESPs. Be safe tomorrow!
Anyone who misses the opportunity to vote at their work site can come to the DAD Center on Tuesday or Wednesday April 5th and 6th from 4 to 5 p.m.

Ratification packets were placed in the courier to schools this evening. Please be on the lookout. Voting should be done at your work sites on Monday or Tuesday with packets placed in the courier Tuesday. Votes will be counted Wednesday evening at DAD beginning at 4:15p. We must get results to the district the morning of the 7th.
We had originally planned to hold the vote last week. Unfortunately Ms. Stone had to travel out of town due to a death in the family and there was a delay. Please consider volunteering to be part of the board and a participating member. If this is something that would interest you, please send an email to [email protected]
Have a great evening.

Agreement reached. Will announce when ratification will be done. We will move up one level with a .25% improvement for a total of 2.75%. The longevity remains in place and there will be retro. The $1,000 "bonus" is in the ESSER grant sent on December 15th and is still waiting on Florida DOE approval. The district also agreed to our contract language for paid bereavement leave. Be on the look out for an email next week. Please message with any questions. Thank you!
March 1st @ 4:30 p.m. another negotiation session has been scheduled. This will be at the Dillon Admin Complex.

Bargaining session #3 complete. Will have an update in a bit. Also, minutes and artifacts from previous sessions can be found at: https://www.santarosa.k12.fl.us/community/contracts/

Just a little information as the post asking the question has disappeared. All members of the bargaining team for Santa Rosa EA are educational support personnel. Since we are the only ones who can collectively bargain for ed support this makes sense. We have one board member who is a teacher and we do have members who are teachers. We fought for you to have a separate contract from teachers because our needs are different. We fought for you to have separate bargaining sessions because our focus is different. We are for ESPs. That is our focus. We are ESPs so, of course, we are working hard to make sure we get all that we are able for you. If you are interested in being on the board we will be holding a meeting and having general elections later this year. Please ask questions. I promise we will answer.
Our next negotiation session has been scheduled for February 3rd at 4:30. This will be held at the Dillion Administration Complex. Thank you for your patience.

Opportunity for ESPs
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!
We just received word that the district needed to cancel the bargaining session scheduled for this evening. We will let you know as soon as it is rescheduled.
Happy Monday! We will have another bargaining session with the District on Tuesday, December 14 beginning at 4:30 pm at the DAD Center.

I apologize for notification of this evening's negotiations not appearing on the page in advance. I thought I had set it up to appear on Monday and didn't realize until this evening it had not happened. As an update we had a good round of negotiations, settled the language and have made proposal for salary. We put forward a 4% salary schedule improvement and level increase (levels are at 2.5%) which would retro back to July 1st. Our next meeting is scheduled for December 14th at 4 pm at the Dillon Administration Complex.
Wanted to let everyone know our first bargaining session scheduled this week had to be canceled by the district. We are working on it folks!
