A big THANK YOU to everyone I got to meet this Friday at St Maryโs Christmas Bizarre! I wanted to post some tips on how to make your sorrel tea (juice) ๐
Hot tea: for a single 8oz standard cup of hot tea I recommend starting out with 2-3 sorrel. You can crush them up to use in a diffuser or leave them whole in the cup. They will plump up about 3x from their dehydrated state. I just spoon them out of my cup before drinking and save them to use again.
Remember you can reuse them until they have turned pale. I usually use them 2 times as I like steep my tea longer for a stronger flavor.
Iced tea: one cup makes one gallon of iced tea (juice) ๐
I fill up a pot halfway or so on the stove let it boil, add in my cup of sorrel and bring down the heat to low. Keep the sorrel on a slow boil for 10 mins. Or longer if you want a stronger flavor.
Bring to room temperature, then strain out the sorrel add to your gallon container and fill up with cold filtered water.
* Add in any sweetener you like right after you bring the temp down to low and stir in. Just like making brewed iced tea.
If you want a stronger juice or to make the traditional Christmas drink, do all the above steps to brew but after you have your pot almost to room temperature place in bay leaves, cloves (ginger or a cinnamon stick if youโd like) and place in the fridge overnight or for at least 8 hours once itโs completely cooled.
If you want it island style add in spiced rum or gin after you strain into your gallon pitcher the next day. This will help you survive all the Christmas chaos ๐
Enjoy and thank you again so much, Starr the tea lady! ๐ค๐บ๐ค

We get asked all the time if we sell Hibiscus flower tea or Sorrel Rosella tea, and it does get confusing! Both plants are called hibiscus, which just adds to the confusion too!
We only sell sorrel rosella which has these and many other health benefits! Sorrel tea is actually a dried fruit that forms after the small white/peach flower blooms after a life cycle of one day. ๐ ๐ ๐

Thanks to everyone that came out and visited me (Starr) and Aaron this last Friday and today at St. Maryโs Bizarre.
We enjoyed talking to each one of you and we hope you enjoy your hibiscus tea you bought with us!
Friday I didnโt have labels for the bags so as a reminder to yโall that purchased with us the usual Starr standard to make iced tea is : 1 cup of dried sorrel hibiscus in a kettle or pot of boiling water let go in a roaring boil for 5 mins. Take it off the heat and let steep for 20+ minutes. Strain sorrels over your pitcher and fill with water.
Tips: if youโd like a more concentrated tea place kettle in your refrigerator after it cools down and let it sit overnight. Strain over your pitcher the next day! This makes a stronger version.
Feel free to ask any questions Iโll be posting more recipes right here on the page! ๐๐๐

Selling our dried Florida cranberry just in time for the holidays! Jamaican sorrel (Florida cranberry) has been used as a cranberry replacement for decades. Sorrel has the same tang as cranberry but not as tart with a slight raspberry and pineapple flavors.
This recipe calls for fresh sorrel but reconstituting dried by steeping it in boiling water for 5 mins and then letting chill over night gives you the same results without any spoiling of the fruit!
If youโd like to try to add some into your holiday menu holler at your sorrel Star โญ๏ธ
Florida Cranberry Sauce Florida Cranberry Sauce is made with fresh roselle in place of cranberries. Bright, sweet, and tart. Easy orange and ginger-spiced recipe.
