LUNA (Learning Urban Nature through Art) is an after-school program for Pittsburgh youth.

LUNA (Learning Urba8n Nature through Art) is an after-school program for Larimer and East Liberty area youth (ages 8 – 15). Participants will learn about trees and plants best suited for their urban environment and will share what they have learned with the community through an online plant-identification database, painted banners depicting key trees and plants, and a planting guide.

Calling all Osher Students out there! ONLINE HOLIDAY CRAFT WORKSHOP, THURSDAY 12/7, 3-4:30PM

I will be giving a Holiday Craft workshop online through the Virtual Senior Academy TOMORROW, Thursday, 12/7, 3-4:30pm. In the workshop, you will learn how to personalize your holiday giving with unique wrapping paper, cards, tags and bags using homemade stencils and stamps! Watch a demo and do projects later, or follow along with the instructor. If you'd like to follow along, a materials list is provided. This class is designed for all experience levels: if you are new to the techniques, you can keep it simple. If you have experience with art techniques and supplies, you can make more intricate stamps, stencils, and designs! Everyone welcome. If you have not signed up for the Virtual Senior Academy, go to virtualsenioracademy.org and sign up. When you are entering your information, select Osher for your affiliation. Once you have signed up, register for the workshop: go to Course Schedule, find Thursday, December 7, and click the Register button for the class.

Have you missed out on a LUNA banner painting session? This may be your last chance for this year... JOIN US Sunday, 2-4 pm at The Moose in Millvale, 112 E Sherman, 15209. Come anytime between 2-4pm. Help us paint banners that reflect the themes of Air, Water, Energy, and Food - Focus areas for Millvale's EcoDistrict Plan. All supplies provided. FREE!! All ages welcome. This is a great activity for families. Below: Our last painting session at the Frick Environmental Center and one of the banner designs (Water) that we will be painting this Sunday. Banner designs are composed of drawings by community members specifically for this project!

We had a wonderful time at the Millvale Moose today with New Sun Rising newsunrising.org pairing up for the Biomimicry event. It was a great experience to workshop sustainable solutions for and with the community. We have some awesome images to work with for our banner painting workshop there next Sunday. Thanks to all who participated and helped to make this day a success!

Had a great time today at WSCC Open House. Met some great people, created patterns with awesome handmade nature stamps and got a front stage seat to the Steel City Ukekeles. Good times!!
