We have had Millie for almost a week, and today…she did the evil. She jumped up to the counter and ate everything that just came off the grill. She had a lonngggg walk earlier with Emma and was exposed to a lot of people. She also had her first bath a few days ago. She didn’t like the hose at first, but she also kept herself together when there was a small dog going by. Oh…did I mention that she pulled my dad to the ground when someone let their terrier out while she was walking by? Can you tell that we are for sure having some ups and downs? Lol. Overall she has been good- but man. She can give us a run for our money.

We are dealing with a fine line between getting comfortable with us and breaking bad habits….we are so happy she’s finally resting (it seems like she’s been stressed/may have had trauma?) so this is good…but we need the chair 🤣

Wait….you’re telling me my new sister has the same name as me? We’re going to need to fix that. 🫠🫠

Almost one full day with Millie Kay!
Millie came to us relatively house trained, but we have some work to do. She responds to the basic sit command, but it’s tough to get her attention. We are working on commands with rewards. She only gets rewards when working on commands.
It appears that Millie was allowed on couches and beds in her prior household, and although we are “okay” with that every once and a while, we don’t want it to become a regular thing. Millie is still very young and hasn’t grown into her paws, so we have room to work with.
Millie is becoming a stronger lead on the leash! She appears to be tugging less, and responding to “heal” much more often. We are also working on commands during chaos or exciting moments. We have mountains to climb in that department 🗻
Millie is getting used to her new name! We chose a name that started with the same first letter, and two syllables.
Millie enjoys playing with her disc, exploring the house, peeing when excited 😆 and meeting new family. Millie has also discovered mirrors…we wonder if that fascination will stick around 🤪
As I type this, Millie is resting at the front door after another walk today (she’s had two) and a good full belly. She is currently eating Applesauce and Peas kibble, but will transition to a more raw food diet as we go on. Millie doesn’t seem like a fan of sweet potatoes or her gotcha day treat 🥱
Adventures of Millie and Molly continue…

Introducing, Millie Kay 🐾
Molly Ann needed to be rescued. She had a rough start to life up in Tawas. But she found her way back home. Molly, now Millie (our cats name is Molly, so her name had to change) was sponsored by the War Dog Memorial here in Milford. It just made sense that this was a sign that she belonged to us, and needed to be brought home 🫶🏻
Because Millie was sponsored by the Vets at the Michigan War Dog Memorial Memorial we are donating to the memorial in honor of our Liesl girl. Millie will never replace our sweet Lisi, but Millie makes a great bandaid on our hearts. Her dog tag is a army dog tag (no bone, no heart, none of that) because the War Dog Memorial brought us this sweet girl.
Happy gotcha day, Millie Kay 🦴
Millie is excited for her first appointment at the wonderful Highland Pets They donated food to us because they took care of Liesl before she passed. Everyone at the Pet Supply Plus in White Lake were so excited for Millie and her new home!
