Diaphonized frog. Diaphonizing is an amazing process, whereby you take usually a thinner, smaller specimen and make it see-through so that you can see the skeletal structure without dissecting the specimen. Usually it’s a series of chemical baths that starts with an enzyme bath that makes the muscle and soft tissue transparent, and then there are dyes that can color the calcium rich parts of the skeleton as well as the cartilage and connective tissue. You then place the Diaphonized specimen into a bottle or vial filled with glycerin to preserve it.
