It’s ! Midlothian utilizes a variety of economic development incentive tools, including Economic Development Performance Agreements, Tax Abatements, Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones (TIRZ), and Chapter 380 Agreements, to attract businesses and investment to our community.
Our incentives are built on a few core principles:
- All incentives are performance-based and paid out only after a company has met specific criteria, such as job creation and taxable value, ensuring Midlothian always comes out ahead.
- Incentives are a partnership, a true win-win for both the Midlothian community and the company.
- Projects are structured to break even within 8 to 10 years, and most do in year one.
The result is intentional growth, a stronger tax base, and real impact. In our annual report, we break down how our active incentives translate into jobs, investment, and long-term value for Midlothian. View it here: https://midlothian-tx.org/2024-25-annual-report/

It’s and we have a lot to celebrate! Since 1999, Midlothian Economic Development has been using sales tax dollars to bring quality jobs and new investment to our community. From manufacturing to distribution to job training, we’re focused on one thing: building a Strong, Bright Midlothian.
None of this happens without our City team. Every department plays a role in supporting growth, serving businesses, and keeping our community moving forward.
To say thank you and to encourage staff to get out and find their new favorite spot we’ve given each City employee a coupon to redeem one item at a participating local business, with MED and MCD covering the cost.
Local businesses get the opportunity to welcome new customers, and our employees get the chance to try something new and discover their next favorite spot right here in Midlothian.
