You get to have cool hair and a gab session with the whole salon!

This lovely lady is someone I have been friends with for 18 years and I just recently started doing her hair the last few years. She has been talking to me about wanting to do some kind of fun color. I sent her an inspo pic a couple of weeks ago and said let me do something like this! She was on board and awaaaaay we went!

She loves mermaids so i picked tones that give me mermaid vibes. The front section is the exact same color purple that is on the lightened pieces but that's on her natural hair color.

So yes, fashion colors/direct dyes can we put over virgin hair but it will change the tone, depth, and intensity.
For the most vibrant colors you want to put them over bleached hair.

This lovely client reached out over the weekend in a hair crisis!

She wanted something different and the last time she had let someone color her hair, the end result was not what she wanted at all!

I have been cutting her hair for quite some time and have built a good foundation of trust with her. She sent me a photo of what she was thinking and I scheduled her in for a balayage. Her biggest worry/concern was not wanting it too light or blonde.

The technique I used was some teezy lights and I painted out some tips between the teezy lights. I tried to keep things fairly soft for a natural blend. I lifted her a little lighter than the target because I find its easier to get the proper tone that way.

We were both extremely happy with the end results! Now if only I could master hair photography the way I have master coloring hair.

Y'all, I had so much fun with this.

This client found me on Instagram and booked a free consultation. They came in and I immediately appreciated their style/vibe: tatts, all black clothes but fun accessories and bright pink hair. They wanted a change, fun colors but was really up for whatever. We talked about different options and some placement ideas. They loved my suggestions and away we went!

This took about 4 hours to do. I used a pigment remover first because to break up the old fashion color, then bleach, the haircut, them block coloring for the fashion color.

We both were extremely happy with the outcome and they got to hear what my partner likes to call "my happy tippy tappies" (I tap my toes on the ground when I am sitting in a chair and I get excited about something).

I love seeing the color in the sink coming out the way I envisioned!!

We cut off a few inches, added layers and a few shorter pieces around her front so it frames her face when she put it up and removed some bulk. Sometimes the curls need to be texturized or thinned out so that the curls have more room to form!

When she reached out to say, the community is asking for a LGBTQIA2S+ circle would you or anyone you know would be interested?

I jumped on it and had an outline by the next morning! I am really excited to be back in a building that has an ancestral connection for me. Every time I step out into downtown Collinsville I feel a sense of coming home. And then the opportunity to talk about two of my passions together feels like a gift from the divine!
