June is Men’s Health Month.
Many older men are less likely to ask for help—even when they need it.
Sometimes support starts with a simple check-in, a conversation, or noticing small changes in routines and daily life.
Independence and support can go hand in hand.

Proud to Support Families on the Shoreline
We’re proud to support families across Middletown, Essex, Old Saybrook, and the surrounding shoreline
Having local, trusted support matters—especially when you’re navigating care decisions for someone you love.
You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Why Most Care Decisions Happen Too Late
Here’s something most people don’t realize:
The best outcomes don’t come from reacting.
They come from planning.
When support starts earlier, families have more options, less stress, and better results overall.
Waiting for a clear “moment” usually means waiting too long.

❤️💙 A huge thank you to Senator Matt Lesser for stopping by our Client Appreciation Day! It is so vital to see the services that home and community based agencies provide and how they truly change lives. We are so grateful for the community support!
Change, Inc. does great work serving people with disabilities in our communities. It was great to stop by their picnic in Middletown! On the Human Services Committee, we spearheaded passage of a large number of new laws designed to transform care for people with disabilities this year, improving oversight and access across our state.

What Are ADLs?
Activities of Daily Living—often called ADLs—are the basic tasks people do every day to care for themselves.
Things like:
• Bathing
• Dressing
• Eating
• Mobility
• Personal hygiene
When these tasks start becoming difficult, it may be a sign that additional support is needed at home.

3 Signs Your Parent May Need Help It’s not always obvious—but there are signs.
• Skipping meals or eating less
• Forgetting medications
• Struggling with everyday routines
These aren’t just “normal aging.” They’re signals it might be time to take a closer look.

June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month. 💜
Memory loss can show up in small ways at first—
missed appointments, confusion with routines, repeated questions, or personality changes.
Families often wonder what’s “normal aging” and what may be something more.
Starting the conversation early can make a meaningful difference for everyone involved.

Getting Older Shouldn’t Mean Losing Independence
Aging well doesn’t mean doing everything alone.
It means having the right support in place so life can stay familiar, comfortable, and safe.
Most families wait until something happens.
The better approach? Planning before that moment ever comes.
