Delaware The Giving Doll Chapter
We are a group of women residents and one guy who meet in the Craft Room of the Springmill (DE) Clubhouse on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month.
A shoebox can go where missionaries can’t. With so many church mission travels cancelled because of the pandemic we were pleased to get in touch with Dawn who partners with Samaritan’s Purse. Dawn and friends pack gifts for Operation Christmas Child - shoeboxes filled with small gifts that can lift a child’s spirit during the holidays. We hope our gift of 25 Giving Dolls will create smiles and give comfort to children in distant lands.

GIVING DOLLS
The Giving Doll Chapter began in Ohio when their founder Jan Householder went to visit a child in the hospital and gave her a special gift, a doll. The doll became so popular that many staff asked her how to obtain dolls for their small patients. And so it began, with the help of many chapters throughout the states, Jan has reached a milestone of 50,000 dolls since 2006.
Our Middletown, DE, Springmill 55+ Active Community Giving Doll team members, gather twice a month to assemble handmade dolls stitched with love, placing bundles of hair upon their heads and dressed to perfection. We take pride in the many dolls we make of different ethnic backgrounds made each day to be given away to a special child in need of love and comforting. We have made and distributed over 2,400 dolls in Delaware and Maryland since we began in 2012.
