Founded in 1929 with an unprecedented approach to financial aid, St. Andrew's is an independent, co-ed, all-boarding, Episcopal high school located in Middletown, Delaware. We stand today as a community dedicated to tying education to a public purpose, and we work to awaken our students to the responsibilities we share for our world.

Eleven new faces. Eleven new fires about to be lit.

This fall, St. Andrew's welcomes an extraordinary group of incoming faculty for the 2026–2027 school year—teachers, coaches, counselors, and dorm parents who bring published research, professional film credits, Fulbright fellowships, Division I athletics, and a whole lot of heart to our community.

"St. Andrew's teachers fully immerse themselves in our students' whole education," says Head of School Joy McGrath '92. "They help students observe and listen; hypothesize, test, and revise; analyze, critique, solve, create, and ask big questions … this is the work of lighting fires.”

Welcome to St. Andrew's!

Each spring, the graduating class leaves something behind: The Story of Us, a book of senior reflections and one of St. Andrew’s most cherished traditions. This year’s edition bears the fingerprints of a grade that, in the words of co-presidents Abraham Perry ’26 and Lila Lunsford ’26, pictured, went “all in”—through the unexpected, the unplanned, and the unforgettable.

Read the seniors' stories and check out their portraits, which were shot in Warner Gallery. Links to both in comments!

Nearly 330 Saints made their way back to Middletown for Reunion 2026, and from the moment they arrived, the hugs, the happy tears, and the joy were unmistakable!

Alumni took to the Front Lawn, pulled weeds in the Three Sisters Garden, heard from Head of School Joy McGrath '92 about the school's next century, settled back in the places where they will always belong, and celebrated classmates whose generosity continues to shape St. Andrew's.

Every summer, adults across campus—from the English department to the Health Center, from the Chapel to Groundskeeping, to Communications to Modern Languages—put together a community reading list. The result is part syllabus, part confession, part dare!

This year's SAS Adult Community Summer Reading Guide is here! Sixty-plus titles spanning literary fiction, graphic novels, memoir, poetry, natural history, and so much more.

Why? Because reading at St. Andrew's isn't only about curriculum—it's about building a community of lifelong learners at every age.

Get the full list at the link below. Happy reading!

At our final Chapel service of the year, ASSIST Scholar Lars Parge '27, here with us for one year from Germany, stood on the Front Lawn and told his St. Andrew's story—the joy of campus, the deep conversations, the round tables where he became a classroom leader, the teammates who inspired him to try new things, the friends, the life-changing moments.

"I'm going home," he said. "But I feel like I'm leaving home."

By the end of the evening, as the sun set over the pond and students swayed together singing, Lars was pulled tightly into the center of things, one more Saint in a circle that always makes space.

There are so many ways a St. Andrew's senior leaves their mark on our school: from their role as culture bearers, Big Siblings, and leaders in our classrooms, dorms, and fields, to setting the tone (loudly!) from the front row of Engelhard Hall at School Meeting, to pulling new students tightly into the fabric of St. Andrew's—even if that means cajoling them into the middle of the Front Lawn at the Open of School Square Dance.

The Class of 2026 was all of that and more.

We'll miss their voices, their gifts, their good humor, their leadership, and their compassion. They've etched themselves into the story of St. Andrew's, and, as decades-old tradition dictates, their initials into the Carving Wall.

Congratulations to the incredible Class of 2026!

Rain couldn't dampen the spirits of the Class of 2026, who gathered inside Sipprelle Field House on Sunday, May 24, for St. Andrew's 93rd Commencement. "The New Yorker" writer John Seabrook '76 returned to deliver the address, urging graduates to think of their St. Andrew's experience as a "moveable feast" and their real credential as a prepared mind.

Congratulations, graduates!
