May 10, 2026 Great Training Day at Stokes State Park, New Jersey

We are saddened to share the loss of Nancy Brooks. Nancy was a longtime
member of Ramapo SAR and served at 9.11 with her K9 Jazz. Nancy along with
her K9 Chief were the team’s ambassadors making countless visits to SAR
events and community gatherings. K9 Chief was a crowd pleaser wherever he
went. Many times, while traveling to Hawaii, Nancy would find the time to
volunteer and help a local SAR team there.
Nancy never stopped helping our veterans, one of special assignments was
assisting aging veterans on their “Honor Fight” to Washington DC and Hawaii for
years. She loved to hear their stories and I am sure she made each and every
one of them feel like the real hero they were.
Nancy was a true giver to her community as she volunteered as a EMT with her
local ambulance company.
Nancy had a way to make people laugh but was also a no-nonsense girl. When
Nancy was around things were organized and the mission was met.
Nancy was also loved the music of Alabama and could be seen in the audience
of their shows.
There was so much to Nancy and her life!
Nancy has left a mark on so many and will be truly missed.
Our deepest condolences to Nancy’s family.
Rest easy our friend. It is time to walk your dogs again.

The Ramapo Rescue Dog Association / Ramapo Rescue Dog Foundation hosted the final practical training day for the New York State Police K9 Cadaver Course.

The class consisted of 10 handler–K9 teams and 4 NYSP K9 instructors from the New York State Police training academy in Cooperstown, NY. The session focused on final evaluations and real-world practical exercises to complete the course requirements.

One of the best training days for the Ramapo Team of the year.
