As the industry moves through changes the clarity of name brand low iron glass has changed with it. The large sample below to the back is a current lot of one of the highest valued, name brand, low iron float glass on the market, the small left piece is one from 2 years ago. The large sample and the bottom left were both sprayed with IDENTICAL whites. Now, the small piece on the right... same lot of glass as the large, but, color corrected to match as viewed through surface ONE!!!

While most back coated companies buy their colors from the coating shop pre-mixed (with color accuracy only guaranteed on surface two), ColorKote mixes in house and matches through surface one. Clients dont care about the science of this, or that the low iron float glass industry can't be controlled, they care about the end result their client will receive and approve.

One of my favorite, this is a back coated mirror! ColorKote was given the size of the "mirror" and removed all other silvering and then backcoated the wall piece in the clients selection of a gorgeous pearlized white. An absolutely stunning, crisp, clean full glass wall installation. A unique addition to a gorgeous master bath.

It was such an amazing experience project managing fd2s's design for the art install in the lobby of the new George HW Bush Senate Building in Austin Texas. Almost 2 years of working with the team to ensure we chose the best vendors to aid us in completing this beautiful art installation. Custom color matching metallics, removal of certain hues from the print, reverse sandblasting on the banners for the depth effect while still protecting the coating, all came into play. Install by ATX Glazing, GC Flint Co., Design by fd2s, printing by GGI Int. and sand blasting by Quality Glass Works. Coating and project management by yours truly!
