No texting while cultivating. 🤪
Things are finally getting lush for the weekend markets—rainbow radish, spring onions, garlic, rainbow chard, garlic scapes, fresh cut herbs, and continuing to have plants & asparagus!
How did my presentation go? Too early to tell, but I met a bunch of fantastic humans! Thanks for having me! If anyone else has a location where you might want a personal drop of 15+ shares—feel free to reach out and say hi!
I’m also loving getting questions about organic, CSAs, and how we grow—please keep them coming!

..one of the challenges of being a CSA farmer is selling the shares before the veggies are ripe—people want to see what they get/how heavy the bag is/feel what a CSA bag looks like. (I get it! This takes a lot of trust on your part!). So sometimes I try to recreate a share in May by buying grocery store veggies. You guys—it was so weird. 😅
I’ll give the store credit—ok variety—but nowhere near what I give you! I couldn’t fully replicate a full week with all the cool stuff we add. Plus everything was so packaged (necessary to keep it separate from conventional or to extend storage).
I feel like this is going to be a further discussion at some point. 🤔

Timing is wild in farming. On one hand, I probably could’ve harvested these on Friday for last week’s market, and they would’ve been small—someone would have taken them home and I would’ve had more money in the till. But, I waited, and now they’re perfect/beautiful/awesome!
Honestly, we do that a lot here. I’d rather you have a really nice quality veggie that makes you hungry for more. (Is this a nudge to join the CSA and get all the nice things? Also yes.) 😆

Close your eyes, and remind yourself how much we all hated how frigid, annoying, and long winter felt. Then drink some cold water and relax your shoulders. Until the heat breaks, we’re doing a lot of irrigation and structure for tomato planting later in the week. I’m looking forward to having these luxurious radishes for you over the weekend. ❤️

Another Sunday, another sauce and some gratitude for the week. ❤️ The sauce: spring garlic, spinach, sorrel, and olive oil. The gratitude: a farmer friend gifted me the best sunscreen and a nudge to take care of myself (love her for it!), someone else gifted me home grown blue oyster mushrooms, a third gifted me homemade traditional chicken stew, and then we finished the week with a ton of kind & generous humans (hence bread, eggs, and butter). The world is full of good things and good humans—thanks to our community for always showing us!

TLDR: spring weather has been wild and unpredictable, so to give our CSA members the best experience, we pushed back the start to the first week of Summer.
Short story long— we started our CSA in 2020 in response to an uncertain world with a goal of feeding and supporting our local community and letting you support us in return. In the years since then, the produce available this early did not meet my expectations for what I wanted your CSA experience to look like, and it was a little challenging for new members who joined in the spring as a way to test out how they felt about joining a longer membership.
Honestly, as we continue with intense weather swings, I’m feeling a bit relieved that I can focus on investing in better growing you for the summer. We have a lot of awesome produce lined up that is looking beautiful. We have new equipment that I’ve had time to learn to use and incorporate new systems.
I hope if you have thought about joining a CSA for this summer, but have not yet, that you might consider whether we’re a good fit for you. I’ve talked to a lot of humans who sound excited and I would love to have you as part of our community on this wild veggie adventure! Let me know what you’re thinking! 😊
