Obey your …..
Just picked up this Kindt-Collins Master 30L 30” disc sander from a pattern shop. Super excited. Hydraulic lift and tilt on the table, integrated dust collection in the castings, all guards in place, no broken castings, everything is in really great shape. A few leaky hydraulic fittings, and plenty of greasy and dust to clean up, but overall a gem. This thing is a beast, can’t wait to get her up and running!

For the sake of diversity, here’s my 20” Italian made Steton jointer / planer / mortiser combo, with a carbide insert head. Kind of a Frankenstein’s monster now with modifications I’ve done including the helical head, separate feed motor with VFD for variable feed rate (thanks for the inspiration), power raise and lower of table, DRO for cut height with auto-zero limit switch. Thanks for making a seriously robust machine that’s as good as new.

Find the seam.
I find myself using the jointer less and less to edge joint longer boards. This close-up of the glue line is the 2 hickory boards from the previous post, straight off of the slider with a 14” industrial rip blade. @ Westbrook, Connecticut

Trial and (mostly) error. This land of misfit toys is a bunch of failed chair parts... designs that didn’t make the cut because they were either aesthetically or ergonomically garbage.

Rear stretcher joinery detail, still on “working model no. 3”. Not sure if on the final version I’m going to leave this as a wedged thru tenon, or just go with a stub tenon. Either way, happy for the progress and proof of concept.

Working out some joinery details for these dining chairs. Thru tenon close-up dry fit. Currently on “working model no. 3”. Can already see some more changes that need to happen.
