Kidde Fire Ectinguisher Recall Information
We at Acquire Fire Protection, Inc. have for many years had concerns about the recalls and leakage problems that Kidde has had with its line of extinguishers. It has always been our policy not to perform recharges on these extinguishers. However, due to the ongoing problems that Kidde has had with their extinguisher line we feel it is in the best interest of our customers and our company that we not perform any service on Kidde Brand Fire Extinguishers at this time.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission the most recent recall involves 134 models of Kidde Brand fire extinguishers dating back to January 1, 1973. This includes those extinguishers previously recalled in March 2009 and February 2015.
This information can be found online at the Consumer Product Safety Commission web site as well as the Kidde website.
Kidde manufactures many other products that are quality items. It is our hope that the Kidde Company overcomes the current problems they are having. We wish them well.

We have all heard of fires where people die because there are no smoke detectors. There are many things we can do nothing about but we can keep working, up to date smoke detectors in our homes. Smoke detectors should be replaced every ten years. You should check the dates on the back of the unit. Simply remove the detector and turn it over look for the date. If it is older than ten years buy new detectors.
Many of the firemen I know have said that photoelectric smoke detectors are the best. If you have questions regarding this issue please feel free to contact out office at 440-632-5600 or contact your local fire prevention officers.
