Miami artist, Pablo Cano, presented his marionette performance, Side Show, at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. The nostalgic inspired performance featured an array of hand-crafted marionettes created by Cano, alongside vintage records and live vocals.
The two act show began on the museum steps with two very large metal sculptures made from found objects. The 10 minute first act attracted attendees attending a fair across Las Olas Blvd. at the newly renovated Huizenga Park, before they headed inside for a more conventional theatrical performance.

Jesus Permuy is a hero whose life serves as a cautionary political tale. Originally part of the resistance against Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista, Permuy found a far more dangerous reality under Fidel Castro’s rise to power. Forced into the Cuban underground, he was eventually smuggled off the island following the Bay of Pigs invasion.
Upon arriving in Miami, Permuy emerged as a prominent human rights activist and a dedicated architect—a craft he mastered at the University of Havana. He led numerous revitalization projects throughout Miami-Dade County, including a major initiative in Little Havana where he served as task force chair, a role he assumed through the guidance of Maurice A. Ferré.
On December 10, 2025, the City of Coral Gables honored his lifetime of service by proclaiming the date "Jesus Permuy Day" in "The City Beautiful."
