Patrick Dupré Quigley, Founder and Artistic Director

04/23/2026

We join the South Florida cultural community in mourning the loss of Michael Tilson Thomas, a visionary whose impact on the world of classical music is immeasurable. As the co-founder of the New World Symphony, his dedication to artistic excellence and the mentorship of young musicians transformed Miami Beach into a global destination for the arts. 🏛️

His remarkable career was defined by a belief that "life is precious" and that music serves as a vital connection between us all. We are profoundly grateful for the legacy of innovation and passion he leaves behind, which will continue to inspire generations of performers and listeners alike.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and our colleagues at the New World Symphony during this time. 🤍

Investing in the future of the choral art is central to our mission. Our latest blog highlights the Ensemble Artist Program, a premier professional training initiative that bridges the gap between academic study and the professional stage.

In our recent Surround Sound finale, we were proud to welcome sixteen exceptional singers from the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music and the University of Miami Frost School of Music. By performing alongside our professional ensemble, these emerging artists gain real world experience in the precision, stylistic interpretation, and discipline required at the highest levels of musicianship.

We invite you to read more about this national model for mentorship and meet the talented singers who joined us this season at the link in the comments. ✨
