A lot of people ask how we build dogs that love to work, not dogs that simply obey because they have to.

It starts long before formal obedience. Right now, we’re building drive by teaching these dogs that following a lure is fun and rewarding. At the same time, we’re socializing them to different surfaces, textures, loud sounds, movement, and real-world distractions.

Everything is introduced in a positive way, creating confidence instead of pressure.

Once that foundation is built, we move into a controlled classroom environment where the dog can clearly understand what’s being taught. Only after they fully understand the behavior do we begin proofing it in the real world.

We repeat that process as many times as necessary until the dog can perform reliably anywhere, under any distraction.

That’s the difference between a dog that listens because it has to, and a dog that works because it genuinely loves to.
