Did I tell you guys about the time I was submitted & booked for a shoot, upon arrival realizing I was "talent" & wasn't "ready"?

It was one of the busiest months of my life. Between busyness & challenging circumstances gone through all month- I thought about it, but ultimately forgot to get my hair done. Like, it was done... but, not done, done. 🤦🏽‍♀️ IYKYK

There were others who weren't camera ready. There was hair & makeup. But, I was convinced they wouldn't know what to do with my kinks, curls & complexion. I was tempted to feel embarrassed about my natural hair. What made it worse- before fully revealing myself, they kept looking at me, saying they were glad I came ready.

Hours later, after they really looked & saw me, I was relieved & surprised when they reaffirmed there wasn't a problem. There was a quick fix to my concern. They liked suggested solutions I provided, were happy to work together on it, were helpful & never panicked or acted like I was too much.

That first hour or two of the day felt long & scary. The rest was easy. Delightful. Perfect. They even had Chipotle! (If you know me you know. 🍛☺️)

Later that day, I was told the crew was talking about my work.

It blew my mind that I so quickly thought the day was ruined by what I naturally had, thinking it would deem me unready & unfit. But turns out I was a perfect fit & ready for it because of what God had naturally given.

This is a reminder for anyone who feels, unready, unworthy- or hearing voices telling you that.

I'm going to tell you something God used someone years ago to tell me. This is for the ladies & gents.

God was intentional about you. Looks, personality, voice- all of you. & I know from experience sometimes people will tell you differently unprovoked. Know that it's a lie.

I would've rather been more prepared that day (& will be sure not to let that happen again 👀). But, grateful for the process to continue to understand this.
