What an amazing night at Stereo Montreal 🖤

Thank you to the wonderful crowd of music lovers who made it such a special one. Always a joy to play in Montreal, and even more so on one of the best sound systems in the world.

Who else was there?

I’m deeply saddened by the passing of William Orbit, a music genius and pioneer of a sound that changed my life. I was in contact with him recently as we were preparing for the re-release of Northern Exposure, intended to celebrate the era he helped define. His early records, like Strange Cargo albums and his remixes were groundbreaking. I listened today to his mix he did for me of Morgan King’s “I’m Free,” a testament to his genius. Earth shattering record. I’m gutted he won’t get to witness the response to the re-release and celebration of that important period of music that defined a generation. He was the architect of that. William’s influence on me was profound; being invited to work with him on Madonna’s “Ray of Light” remix was an honor. He shared some of his studio techniques, which were truly mindblowing. William was a remarkable and fragile soul. Rest in peace, William. Your music will live on forever.

Thirty years ago, John Digweed and I put together a mix that would go on to become one of the defining records of our careers.

Northern Exposure was created at a time when DJ culture was still finding its identity. We simply wanted to make something that reflected the music we loved and the journey we wanted to take people on. None of us could have imagined the impact it would have over the decades.

Now, 30 years later, we’ve gone back to it.

I’m incredibly excited to announce Northern Exposure Redux. Together with John, we’ve revisited, reworked and expanded the original mix, with every track fully remastered for a whole new listening experience.

For the first time ever, the complete mix will also be available on streaming platforms.

Alongside that, Late Night Tales have put together a series of special physical editions, including a limited, numbered 4LP box set featuring all 22 tracks from the original mix, extended liner notes, separate North and South coloured vinyl editions, and a limited 3CD edition with an exclusive new bonus mix from John and me.

It’s been amazing revisiting this music and reflecting on what Northern Exposure has meant to so many people over the years. I can’t wait for you to hear it again, or discover it for the very first time.
