During the school holidays, the children enjoyed a much-needed break from boarding school at their Kampala home. From movie nights to home-cooked meals ( a nice change from their daily posho and beans at school), these moments of family and normalcy make all the difference.

Poverty Impact: Over 55% of rural Zimbabweans live below the national food poverty line compared to 15.5% in urban areas. This economic disparity directly affects educational access and quality in rural regions1.

When stuff breaks down in rural areas, it's not as simple as calling someone to fix it. Parts are hard the come by, experts are far away, and what should be a quick repair can drag on forever. By working together, we can bring the help these communities need.

Our "man on the ground" received a little scare last week when his brakes stopped working, but don't worry, Shingi used his emergency brakes: the bushes. All is well. His truck will be up and running soon.

Rural schools face significant challenges, including:

✔️ Lack of qualified teachers, as many prefer urban areas or migrate to other countries.
✔️ Insufficient infrastructure, such as electricity, water, and ICT resources4.
✔️ Poor teacher-pupil ratios and limited access to extracurricular activities3.

More than two-thirds of Zimbabwean children lack access to quality education, with many unable to read or write after completing primary school. Let's change that.

Beyond Bricks and Mortar: A functioning rural school needs more than just classrooms. We want to make sure each school has:

➕ Separate bathroom facilities
➕ Safe playground areas
➕ Community meeting spaces
