The City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue proudly celebrated the promotions of Isaac Amador to Lieutenant and Marcus Talamus to Captain. Joined by their families, friends, and members of the department, both were officially pinned with their new badges as they begin the next chapter of their careers.
Making the moment even more special, recently retired Fire Captain Joey Fuentes returned to stand alongside them and cheer them on as they reached this important milestone in their careers.
We congratulate them both and wish them continued success in their new leadership roles.

At the end of Friday’s training day, recruits heard from Lieutenant Almeida and Lieutenant Viniegra, both United States Air Force veterans and instructors with the City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue.
In a candid moment, these veterans reminded recruits what Memorial Day truly represents: sacrifice, service, and honoring those who gave their lives for our nation.
This Memorial Weekend, the City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue Fireboats will be out on the water helping keep our community safe.
We encourage everyone heading out on the water to boat responsibly and use caution:
• Complete your safety equipment checklist before departing• Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water• Remain alert and aware of your surroundings• Always wear your life jackets• Keep a fire extinguisher and first aid kit on board• Monitor weather conditions for changes• Wear sunscreen and protective clothing• Keep an eye on your children
Let’s work together to make this a safe and enjoyable Memorial Weekend for everyone.
During EMS Week, the City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue proudly thanks our partners at Miami Firefighters Credit Union, Miami Firefighters Benevolent Association, and IAFF Local 587 for hosting us and providing Cienfuegos Coffee to keep our crews energized as we respond to calls throughout our community.
