224 New PMS Colors: What Print Professionals Should Know
Pantone has expanded its Graphics System with 224 new PMS colors, now incorporated into the Formula Guide, Color Bridge, and Solid Chips.
For printers, designers, brands, and color professionals, this is also a good time to look at the tools being used to communicate and reproduce color. Pantone recommends replacing physical Graphics guides every 12–18 months, depending on use and storage.
We’ll be sharing more soon about the updated Pantone products and availability through Grafix World.
In the meantime, if you’re looking beyond the color guide and want to better understand how color is being managed throughout your production process, take our Free Color Workflow Assessment.

You fingerprinted your press. Does that mean it will now print perfectly?
Not quite.
Press fingerprinting is one of the most valuable tools for understanding how a printing system actually behaves. It can establish a measurable baseline, help develop tonal compensation curves, and create a more predictable foundation for color management.
But it doesn't replace ICC profiling, proper color separations, press maintenance, good file preparation, or ongoing process control.
In our latest Grafix World article, we break down what press fingerprinting does, what it doesn't do, and why understanding the difference matters for predictable print production.
One of the most important distinctions:
Fingerprinting establishes the baseline.
Process control protects the baseline.

“We’re G7.”
But what does that actually tell us about the color coming off the press?
G7 has transformed how the printing industry approaches calibration, neutral tonality, and visual consistency. But G7 Grayscale, G7 Targeted, and G7 Colorspace each tell us something different—and meeting a specification is not always the same thing as managing a production process.
In our latest article, we break down G7 in straightforward terms and explore the differences between calibration, characterization, color accuracy, precision, and production consistency.
We also look at a question that ultimately matters to every printer:
Is the color we're producing right now accurate and consistent enough for the job?

Does proofing paper really matter?
A contract proof isn't simply a high-quality print. It's a controlled simulation of how a job is expected to reproduce.
And that means the paper matters too.
In our latest article, we look at how paper white, consistency, surface characteristics, and proofing standards all contribute to a result that can be measured, repeated, and trusted.

Does Proofing Paper Really Matter? Why the paper matters more than you might think A contract proof isn't simply a high-quality image printed on a nice sheet of paper. It is a controlled simulation of how a job is expected to reproduce under a defined printing condition.

Why does the same file print differently?
Many assume the answer is the press.
In reality, one of the most overlooked variables is how the production file is prepared before it ever reaches the printer.
In our latest article, we explore a practical approach to reducing unnecessary variables and helping create a stronger foundation for consistent printing—especially when artwork is produced across multiple printers, production methods, or locations.
I'd love to hear your perspective.
