Lost my Bubbie yesterday afternoon. She was surrounded by her loved ones in quite a surreal experience. Those who know me, knew her—her larger-than-life personality, beaming smile, joie de vivre, and filthy humor.

You all also at least got to see her anti-fascist (and sometimes dirty) emails, always standing up for the underdog; her outrageous and bold fashion choices; and the way she could recount stories and life events with more precision and detail than one could ever dream.

In one of our last conversations, she told me about the songwriters of Tin Pan Alley. She was 98 years old and left an indelible mark. A life lived truly and loved deeply.

My dear friend has been in contact with and gotten to know this remarkable journalist whose family has been desperately trying to flee Gaza in face of Israel’s brutal genocide - help Ahmed and his family by donating to get them to safety in Cairo! Donations will cover food, water, blankets, medical supplies, passports, passages out of Gaza, and relocation costs.
