Shelters of Light
8” x 10”
Watercolor on paper
In Jerusalem, Sukkot transforms the city into a tapestry of fragile shelters balconies, rooftops, courtyards all layered one upon another. The streets feel alive, bustling with joy & community, yet each sukkah is it’s own quiet sanctuary. I was drawn to capture that beautiful tension, the busyness of the city wrapped in celebration, and the intimacy of these temporary dwellings rising together, like patchwork prayers stitched into the stone.

Hakafot under the Stars
8” x 10”
Watercolor on Paper
Under the moon & the sukkah still standing from the holiday, figures dance with Torahs, their movements flowing like waves of joy. The abstract lines capture the collective energy of Simchat Torah, a moment where community, celebration, and devotion converge.

This past year has been one of profound change for me. Not so much in the number of paintings I created, but in the way life itself has been shaping me, inside and out. As many of you know, I welcomed a baby into the world, and with that, my days and nights have been filled with new rhythms.
I haven’t painted as much this year. For a while, I resisted that truth, feeling that I should be producing more. But I’ve come to understand that this season of fewer brushstrokes has its own artistry. It has been about creating space within myself—space for new life, new thoughts, new prayers. One of the things I did during this season was write a letter to God. In it, I asked for miracles. Not just for myself, but for all of us. Because I believe each of us deserves to have our deepest wants fulfilled. Sometimes we forget that asking is part of the miracle, that vulnerability of naming what we long for and releasing it to the Divine, knowing that He will take care of it!
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Your support, your presence, your willingness to see and connect with my work, it means more than I can ever say. May this coming year bring you the fulfillment of your wants, both spoken & unspoken. May it bring you miracles, large & small. And may you continue to find beauty in the spaces between.
With gratitude and love,
Chaya

Three paintings, produced during “ The Three Weeks” , a traditional time of mourning for the Jewish people, commemorating the loss of their Temples over 2,000 years ago.
But as we know, destruction comes with a spark of renewal. There is no rebirth without shedding off the old. And so, these paintings feel alive, new, and ready for the world.

Grief doesn’t always arrive with sound.
Sometimes it circles overhead—
weightless, watchful—
like the birds
who never seem to leave.
Some say they are angels,
but I think they are memory,
fluttering in the margins of stone & sky,
reminding us
that even in mourning
there are things that still know how to return.
The wall does not speak,
but it listens.
To silence, to longing,
to the rustle of wings
that have never forgotten
how to find their way home. 🕊️

The Vineyard by the Golan
16” x 20”
Watercolor on Paper
This whimsical painting captures a quiet stretch of land where grapevines grow through ancient soil. I have always been fascinated by the process of wine-making, and some of the most delicious wines I’ve tasted have come from the North of Israel. I hope you enjoy , painting available for purchase.
