This 2 time Champ had a great career which included hitting the Lotto twice. And by Lotto I mean Floyd "Money" Mayweather. Maidana spent only 10 yrs in the pro ranks before receiving the opportunity to challenge Floyd on both Mexican holidays in 2014, yet came up short both times. MESSAGE: "Your greatest victory or success story doesn't have to be a win." - Barak. Do not despise failure, cause Your effort and courage can be recognized and exalted as well as teach u a priceless lesson. Some even say Maidana was shortchanged by the judges and deserved the nod in their first fight; Which is a theory I vehemently disagree with because to say Maidana won is to say he outlanded Floyd 7 rounds which did not happen. I felt he won more rounds against Floyd than most usually do and I remember saying Floyd better let his hands go or he's gonna lose this fight. Maidana punched from angles no one has ever done against Floyd and never showed him any respect. That won the hearts of many fans and made the fight close. Though Floyd chose to fight a different fight as he did when he fought Cotto because of the media saying his fights are boring. I remember being in the gym when Floyd was sparring a much bigger fighter who currently fights at super middleweight when he was preparing to fight Cotto and I kept wondering why Floyd wasnt moving and boxing. I later seen that he wanted to move less and make the fight more exciting as his did against Cotto. In sparring he destroyed the fighter and made him quit. What the public doesnt know is that Floyd is a dog and is very physically strong, it's his hands that can't endure like they used to. So Maidana capitalized off Floyd switching his style to be more exciting and almost dethroned the champ. He earned another 7 figure shot which wound up being his swan song. He had a brilliant career which was almost cut even shorter by the loss to Devon Alexander, but hiring a new trainer in Rober Garcia revitalized his career and confidence. And got him some good wins and 2 huge paydays. We thought he was done but just signed with Al Haymon to return at 154lbs then campaign back at 147. Good luck champ
