There are watches that, more than simply belonging to a collection, seem to have escaped from one. This watch is a perfect example.
Those who look at it in search of similarities with known models might feel disoriented. But those who seek individuality will likely be struck by it.
The case, to begin with, doesn’t follow typical standards: rectangular, yet animated by wide, sculpted lugs — almost oversized in relation to the central body — giving it a strongly graphic presence. It’s a hybrid shape, hard to classify, and that’s precisely what makes it so fascinating. There are not many known Vacheron pieces with similar lugs; perhaps none.
There are no clear signs of industrial compromise in this watch. Nothing appears made to simplify production or to follow a mass-production logic. It’s one of those rare pieces that seem to have been designed with a specific purpose… but today, without clear documentation, we can only speculate. And that’s part of its charm.
