Eleganza Strings

La Serva Padrona was written by Giovanni Pergolesi in 1733, when he was only 23 years old. I’ve had the pleasure of playing this light and fun baroque opera twice; last month as concertmaster, with Mostly Baroque ensemble, using baroque bows 🎻 🩷 at Arsht Center. Soprano Tsai and baritone Johan Hartman brought brought their spectacular voices and charm to each of their roles, for a truly unique, wonderful concert!

As part of the same baroque series, virtuosic piccolo trumpet solos in Bach’s iconic Brandenburg Concertos were played by . Harpsichord by Gene Greco, under the direction of David Hartman. Bravi, tutti! 🎶🎺🎻🎹

So Friday I played an event where I heard Ron MaGill may be a guest, and I thought this was very cool, since I’ve been a fan of his work for a long time! As I was walking to my car afterwards, none other than the man himself came up to me and said that he and his wife really appreciated the music - especially the violin solo I played in the beginning. 🤯 I couldn’t believe they noticed and certainly didn’t expect that he would make an effort to approach me!! 🥹 I wish I had included his beautiful wife Rita in the photo, but it took a moment for me to get over the fact that I was actually speaking with him, or to even suggest a photo! Such genuine and kind people, and a true Miami treasure! 🦅🦅🦍🦁🎉🦜🌴🎻🎶

Stopping in Istanbul on the way to Singapore (see last post 🎻) was an amazing experience of its own - delicious food, tea all day, mindblowing history, breathtaking views of both Europe and Asia, warm people, gorgeous mosques, cats that behave like dogs, and no challenge that google translate couldn’t tackle.
