Galápagos Islands Part 2 - LAND

Step ashore and the wonder takes on a new form. The islands rise in a jumble of lava fields, ash cones, and ancient basalt - a raw, otherworldly stage where evolution has worked in glorious isolation. Marine iguanas sprawl across black rock like miniature dragons, land iguanas wander through sun-baked scrub, and giant tortoises move with serene, ancient purpose. Overhead, frigatebirds, bo***es, finches and albatross carve the sky with easy mastery. Every island carries its own cast, its own personality, its own quiet astonishment.

It was these subtle differences - the curve of a beak, the shape of a tortoise shell, the behaviour of a bird — that stirred Charles Darwin toward one of history’s great scientific revelations. To walk here today is to wander through the living heartbeat of that discovery, where evolution is not an idea but a daily performance. The Galápagos remain a rare sanctuary of life unfolding at its purest, a reminder of how extraordinary the world becomes when nature is allowed to write its own story.

What a trip this has been above as we’ve purred through these extraordinary and pivotal islands. Phenomenal in fact. Nature at its most majestic.

The Galápagos Islands are a constellation of wild marvels, scattered across the Pacific like nature’s own laboratory. Here, evolution feels close enough to touch. Every island carries its own rhythm, its own cast of characters, each uniquely shaped by isolation and time. To dive these shores is to witness life in its purest improvisation — bold, unfiltered, and astonishingly unafraid of the humans who are privileged enough to witness it.

Beneath the waves, the enchantment only intensifies. Diving the Galápagos is like descending into a cathedral of motion, where currents sweep past Wolf and Darwin Islands with a pulse that draws in the ocean’s giants. Hammerheads school in their hundreds, silky sharks dart through beams of light, and whale sharks cruise by like passing planets. Sea lions twist around divers in playful spirals, while eagle rays glide with effortless grace. Every descent feels like entering a living, breathing epic — a reminder that these waters are among the last great theatres of the wild, where the ocean still roars with abundance and awe.

There is so much to absorb that it is truly life enhancing.

Just back from an unforgettable journey along the wild and stately coastline of British Columbia, from Port Hardy, Bute Inlet and down to Vancouver. Total heaven!

The vistas, the people and the sheer beauty of the whole damn place is insane - towering forests, endless horizons, and natural, untamed wilderness at every turn.

There’s something profoudly grounding about being in a place where nature rules supreme, where the ocean, mountains, and skies seem to breathe in unison. A true reminder of how small we are in the grand scheme, and how vital it is to protect places like this.

Glorious, raw Alaska! Venturing up the wild west coast felt like stepping into nature’s last frontier. Days spent weaving through icy fjords, watching whales breach against a backdrop of towering peaks, and tracing the untamed edges of this vast land were nothing short of exhilarating. Alaska reminds you what true adventure feels like — raw, unpredictable, and utterly magnificent.
