RIDGE RESIDENCE
When making considerations of how to make the most impactful intervention to the architecture, we focused mainly on the roof and the incorporation of windows for natural light and ventilation. Layered horizontal roof planes, tropical landscaping and an abundance of clerestory windows all contribute to the home's integration with its site. In contrast to the tropes of a Palm Beach traditional vernacular, this home seeks to re-establish itself within nature as a place for a young family.

GARDEN HOUSE

Located in a landlocked suburban area south of Miami, the design of this home intends to create an intimate resort-like setting that reconnects the user with nature. All while creating dynamic spaces for both privacy and entertainment.
The programing of the home has been displaced along a central axis - allowing for more opportunities to embrace natural light and extend the garden elements through the home.

The KoDA team visiting the courtyard at PARKWAY RESIDENCE.
We wanted this home to re-unite with a forgotten Florida archetype - the courtyard home. The clients, a young family of 5, made it clear that their time is spent divided equally between indoor and outdoor. Therefore, we were tasked with creating a series of both indoor and outdoor spaces for relaxation, entertaining and exercising. The solution was to create a layered sequence of spaces defined by programmatic volumes and curated gardens.

‘MANGROVE HOUSE’
The design focuses on two objectives, opening spaces towards expansive Biscayne Bay views while engaging with dense, sub-tropical gardens at all levels.
The home establishes around a central courtyard that celebrates a dense mangrove garden, extending through the site.
The second floor was imagined as a canopy - floating above the gardens below and in line with the vibrant canopies of the surrounding landscape.
The mangrove is an essential component of The Biscayne Bay ecosystem and this, a source of inspiration in the design of this home.
