We are heartbroken to post that Wilmer passed away in his sleep last night. Wilmer came to us in November 2018 as a hospice dog from the county shelter. At the time we pulled him the shelter had advised us that he had only weeks to live but with heart medication he improved greatly. A few weeks ago his appetite decreased. A kidney panel showed higher BUN results which is expected from long term use of lasix. We started him on fluids and his appetite increased. He returned to the vet two days ago for a recheck and his values were much improved. We had hoped to do a dental in the next few weeks as he had a few bad teeth that the vet thought was causing him discomfort. Yesterday, he ate very well and was quite active. He died peacefully in his sleep. We will miss him dearly. He was a funny, sweet little guy and we were very fortunate to give him a home for the past year and half. Rest In Peace little Wilmy.

Wilmer visited the vet yesterday as he has not been eating well for a couple of days. His BUN is slightly elevated and he was a bit dehydrated. The vet also wants to schedule him for a second dental. We took in Wilmer from our county shelter a year and half ago. We were told he was hospice and would not live very long. Thankfully due to heart medications he has made a great turnaround. We need to raise funds for yesterday’s vet visit and for his upcoming dental which will run about $350 since special precautions will need to be taken. We expect total costs to be around $550 to $600. We always do everything we can for our hospice cases. Wilmer is still a feisty active little guy so we hope even with his heart issues he will be around for a long time. Donations may be sent to [email protected]. Thank you.

One of the community cats that we help has developed a very bad upper respiratory infection. He is hospitalized at Miami Animal clinic. We have been trying to catch him for the past week without luck until today. Teco, as we call him, has been one of our regular cats that we feed and take care of. Donations are greatly appreciated either to PayPal at [email protected] or called into vet at 786-542-6070. Thank you so much!
