Change begins with opportunity.
Education opens doors to self-expression, personal growth, and stronger connections between individuals. That’s why Exchange for Change has spent over a decade bringing writing and education programs inside Florida’s correctional institutions.

Thank you to Literacy Foundation for our 2026 adult literacy grant! Funding received will support our Rehabilitative Justice Writing & Leadership Program.
This program reaches more than 700 incarcerated men, women, and youth each year through weekly college-level writing and communication courses. The funding goes directly to the students who show up every week, ready to learn and ready to grow.

We are in the news!!!
just published a beautiful piece on the power of education and writing programs inside correctional facilities - and Exchange for Change is featured alongside Incarcerated Writer’s Bureau.
We are so grateful for this spotlight and for the voices of our students being heard beyond the prison walls.
This is exactly why we do what we do💙

A couple of weeks ago we had the most beautiful morning at the Community Yoga Gathering at Miami Beach Botanical Garden 🌿
We came together as part of the series - for yoga, connection, and a shared reminder of why this work matters.
This event is especially close to our hearts as it reflects the same mindfulness work we facilitate with women at Homestead Correctional Institution each week. Same spirit, different setting.
A huge thank you to the for opening their doors to us, and to all our wonderful partners who co-created this experience with us:
And to everyone who joined us - we are so grateful. More to come! 🦋

Exciting things are happening this May!🌞
We are thrilled to be collaborating with The Children’s Trust Youth Advisory Committee on their May Field Trip - a Reentry Simulation Experience at Florida International University on May 16.
Young people will step into real-life scenarios to build awareness, leadership, and life skills around reentry and community impact. It is exactly the kind of work that aligns with our mission, building bridges of understanding and empathy across our community.
Proud to be part of this and grateful to for this collaboration!
