300+ guests. Two cultures. All ages. One packed dance floor.

The dance floor had to feel right for a lot of different people, cultures, and age groups all in one night.

That’s where reading the room matters most.

The goal wasn’t just to play a little bit of everything. It was to pay attention, watch what was connecting, and blend the right mix of music from both cultures in a way that kept the energy building and made people feel included.

From the younger crowd to parents, family, and friends from both sides, it turned into one of those nights where all kinds of people were out on the dance floor together having a great time.

That’s always the goal for me — not forcing a moment, but creating one by understanding the crowd and playing what works.

This was a full on pop music party and they knew every word to every song. The second I realized this was a singing crowd, I knew to let the songs breathe and play radio versions. Remixes and quick in & outs of each song would have killed the vibe, but it was important to beat match just about every track to keep the dance floor groovin’ 🕺

I’m reminded again of how connected Chicago & the Florida Keys are…☺️

Meet Kerry, director of private events at 🪩 I met Kerry in December of 2022 when she was working at I was setting up for a wedding and she mentioned that she’s from Chicago but was in the Keys for the season.

I told her that I was planning on splitting my time between Key West & Chicago and she said to reach out when I make my way up north. Summer of 2023 is when I made my way up to Chicago and Kerry was the first person I reached out to.

She started inviting me to networking events and fast forward to today, we’re working a wedding reception together at the iconic Celeste Disco room!

You don’t realize it until you live it, but Chicago does have a really special small-town community feel and I am grateful for our connection and being on her VIP vendor list :)

If you’re getting married in Chicago, Celeste is def worth considering. There are multiple floors and each one has its own unique vibe. They take care of catering and because it’s already well decorated, you don’t have to worry about bringing in decor!

The Florida Keys & Key West wedding and private event season is about to begin but that doesn't mean I'm leaving ya hangin', Chicago!

Soon you'll be seeing stories of me all bundled up while partying in Chicago, or mildly glistening 😆 while under some palm trees in Key West.

Now is the time I start using all of my flight points to get me to where I need to be to celebrate with you on your big day.
