It's Pride month everyone!! This year I wanted to celebrate by sharing some of my favorite grooming tools that just happen to be a lil gay coded!
I love that the Andis emerge clippers come in a variety of colors-- I always opt for the cute pink and orange ones and they perfectly match the sunset flag AND my sunset pro clip 5-in-1!
I use Andis wide clip combs literally every day-- you can do short trims, long trims, and their rainbow color coding makes it easy to remember what length each comb is.
My favorite shears of all time are from Niira! I have one of pretty much every shear they have ever made and I don't use anything else! I always feel confident that if a shear is Pina approved, it will be good enough for me. That woman has no problem saying something sucks if it does. Every single shear that she puts her name on has been tested by her personally, and that is a level of care I appreciate!
Do you agree with my list? 🥰
Happy Pride everyone. I love you!

I've been working on so many fun projects this past month and I can't wait to share them with everyone!! Ahhh. But you'll have to wait 🙈
I always shampoo twice-- once to cleanse + prime the coat, and a second that I let soak for a few minutes, usually with a specific purpose like volumizing, deshedding, whitening, medicated etc.
I always follow up with an appropriate conditioner specific to that dog's skin + coat needs.
Living in Miami, even my weekly and bi-weekly clients benefit from a double cleanse; our soil is rich in clay, our environment is hot + humid, and most of them are living exciting lives filled with boating, beach days, and just romping around the city.
A REALLY clean coat is just the start of a beautiful finish.
Estheticians shout for us to double cleanse and moisturize at the end of our day-- if we do that for our skin DAILY why wouldn't we do it for our dogs who only get bathed every 1-4 weeks?
Do you double cleanse?
Model is 's baby Mushu!!
First show in my new collab with Wag'n Tails is in the books! For my first trick, I did a trim I had never done before and hoped to make it through. 🤣
I still think this looks pretty great (that little shave spot on his shoulder is from a mole removal), but when I tell you that my friend blew my mind with a lesson on this trim the next day... wow! I'm excited to practice again!! Also the shears Mel let me borrow for this trim are literally named after this dog. lol.
Thank you so much to Wag'n Tails for having me, and to Andis for the awesome clipper giveaway at the end of my demo! 😄
I used:
eMErge Lite clippers
Wide 5 M-Force Blade
Proclip 5 in 1 on a 15 setting
Table
Cherry Blossom shampoo + finishing spray
Wide Tooth Comb
Mushu shears named after the dog I am grooming in the video!
Tess Oliver's "M-Force Blades in C Major", an ode to Andis.
My lifetime of classical piano training has finally paid off. Decades of my life finally coming to fruition. Do I quit dog grooming, yes or no?
Anyway, the new magnetic cutting blade technology is literally the biggest innovation in clipper blades since wide blades came out, and ceramic blades before that!! With less metal on metal contact points, these blades stay cooler 30% longer than regular blades. They're finally available in 30, 10, 5, and 7 sizes and the 4 will be released later this year!!

I've been grooming Gizmo the cockapoo for over 8 years!! 🥹 that's more than half his life! sweet baby 🥰
Gizmo gets a 5/8" yellow clip comb on his body and a 1/2" on his chest + rear. Legs are skimmed and scissored to match a little fuller.

Wally the tiny doodle used to bite for blood and now he is a perfect 10/10 absolute dream baby for grooming!!!!
Sir Wallace is the newest addition to one of my weekly households. When he first arrived back in November, he was extremely fearful and had no self confidence so he would resort to biting to "defend" himself (reasonable but not response we want).
In the salon, I saw him weekly with the other two household dogs and let him sit on the ground and watch/play/relax while he watched them get groomed (they loooove their spa days). We did what we could ever visit safely.
At home, Wally went to training camp and learned lots of obedience commands, raising his confidence and teaching him how humans communicate and how he can communicate.
Week after week he got better and better, at first marginally and eventually exponentially from visit to visit.
Today he was absolutely perfect for everything, and even escaped his house by opening the back door to run back to the van while we left 🤣
This is why frequent visits are so important for young, fearful dogs and why obedience training is more than just learning how to sit.
Now Wally sees grooming as a fun part of his life that he looks forward to every week, and not a totally random horrifying occurance that happens upon him a few times a year. He knows how to communicate and trusts that we will communicate with him in return. So proud of Wally, his family, his trainers, and us 🤣🫶
I LOVE YOU SIR WALLACE MILTON THE FOURTH
