Rebecca Solnit suggests that the fact that the question "what is your mother's maiden name?" is often used for security measures is a meaningful indicator of the extent of women's erasure. What's in a name? A lot. If one's claim of one's own name meant nothing then colonisers wouldn't need to strip them from the colonised, and men wouldn't need to erase them in marriage, from history books and from reportage.

NOW ON VIEW❗️Picasso Cut Papers—devoted to a little known yet foundational aspect of Pablo Picasso’s artistic practice.

This exhibition spans Picasso's full career, from his first cut papers made in 1890 at nine years of age, through the 1960s, with works he made while in his eighties. It features some of the artist’s most whimsical and intriguing works made on paper and in paper, alongside a select group of sculptures in sheet metal.
