Thrilled to release this song and music visualizer by Barbara FG and honored that Relix premiered the story today. Still wild to me how it all came together and I’m deeply grateful for everyone involved.

John Forte asked me to write a song for a film about Jack Kerouac that he scores in called “Kerouac’s Road: Beat of a Nation”. I recorded a demo back home in Texas and JJ Poyatos added some guitars. The song was placed in the film and Jon Theodore played drums over the scene. When I met Jon later, we hung back in Austin and he recorded his drum part at Arlyn Studios for the potential film soundtrack and has since become one of my favorite people. The day after Arlyn, I went to mix with Patrick Dillett in NYC and Tony Garnier came in last minute to add upright + electric bass to the track.

We weren’t able to premiere the scene with “Freedom of the Mind” from the Kerouac film, so the amazing Barbara FG brilliantly cut a music visualizer with candid shots from a week in Mexico that worked beautifully with the song. My brothers Sean Giddings and Pepe Gavilondo added keys, and John Forte produced.

All to say, I love every one of these people so much and I’m so grateful to be a part of anything they would be a part of. I hope you all enjoy the track and visualizer. Endless gratitude always 🙏
