I met Nick Daniels when I played Miami Beach Bandshell last January and I saw him outside on the stairs smoking a cigarette getting ready to perform with Dumpstaphunk. He asked me how I was doing and I said "every second is a blessing". He smiled and said, "that's right kid, every moment you get to play live, is a moment to cherish". I asked him if he had any advice for younger musicians out there and he said "Don't let the music follow you, but you should always follow the music". At the time I really didn't understand what he meant by that and still feel a bit unsure as to what he was trying to say but it felt very powerful in that moment. Perhaps, he knew something about his health that he was holding in and was staying strong in front of me, a stranger. But in this moment, at least to me, we weren't strangers anymore. I thanked him for his words and expressed excitement at seeing him play live again with Dumpstaphunk and went on my way. I didn't know him well enough but what I can say is that if you have a moment to inspire others, don't let that moment pass. A little effort and kindness goes a long way.

For my birthday I just wanted to say thank you to everyone out there who supports, appreciates and loves me for me. Thank you for pushing me to be the best me I can be.
