What if poetry wasn’t something you sought out — but something that found you? On a fruit sticker. On a sandwich wrapper. Stamped into freshly poured concrete. Broadcast on the radio during your morning commute. That’s the world O, Miami has been building since 2011.

Swipe through to hear from two of the brilliant minds behind it all: Melody Santiago Cummings (Executive Director) and Caroline Cabrera (Artistic Director), who have spent over a decade bringing poetry to every nook and cranny of Miami.

Since their founding, O, Miami has produced 875 events, collected more than 42,000 poems, served 2,755 Miami-Dade County students, and published 30 titles. In 2025 alone, they held 150+ events in four languages, placed 9,000 poetry fruit stickers on produce across the city, and installed 410 linear feet of poetry fences throughout Miami.

Their mission? To ensure that every single person in Miami encounters a poem during National Poetry Month. And somehow, impossibly, they pull it off — every year.

Are we alone in thinking public libraries are some of the coolest places in any city? 📚✨

In Saint Paul, Director Maureen Hartman leads a system that proves why: 13 branches, a mobile library, over 1.2 million visits in 2025, no late fines — and a team that treats the library as a hub for people, not just books. From intellectual freedom and privacy to AI and community-first public safety, almost every big issue in our world shows up at the library’s front door.

Meet Maureen and see what it really takes to run a modern, community-centered public library in Saint Paul. Link in bio to full interview.

The cities that thrive are the ones that invest in their cultural life.

For 30 years, Rosie Gordon-Wallace and have done exactly that — building a living, breathing ecosystem for Caribbean artists in Miami-Dade. Not a program. Not a project. A network of belonging, critique, and creative possibility that has sustained artists across generations.

Religious radio isn’t just about religion. New research from the Pew-Knight Initiative shows that stations cover everything from lifestyle advice to health to news and politics — all through a faith lens.

It’s a reminder that people’s media diets, and the spaces where they find connection, are often more expansive than we may assume.

A new study from Knight Foundation and explores how residents and business owners in Charlotte’s Historic West End access — and trust — local news and information.

The study highlights the mix of news sources and community connections that shape how information moves across the neighborhood. Only 28% say they’re getting all the local news and information that matters to them, pointing to gaps in the current ecosystem.

Trust plays a central role. Neighbors, churches and community organizations shape how information flows and where people turn for information. Investing in these trusted networks helps keep communities informed, connected and engaged.
