On July 21st, the City Commission voted to approve a resolution designating a segment of NW 12th Avenue as Weatherspoon Way. This was done to honor the legacy of Rev. L.C. Weatherspoon, who was a foundational figure in the City's community for decades. He served as a lifetime member of the Delray Beach Voters League, helping to increase civic participation among the black community, and he received the NAACP Community Service Award in 1987 for his strong commitment to the community.

The board sets the destination. The superintendent builds the road. When those roles are clearly defined and mutually respected — governance becomes focused, accountability becomes meaningful, and student outcomes improve.

With 35+ years as a teacher, principal, superintendent, and governance coach — I know the difference between governing and managing. I will not micromanage. I will govern with discipline, transparency, and an unwavering focus on results for every student in District 4.
