Title: Art from the Heart
Artist: Alya A.
Age: 10
Grade: 4th
School: The Cushman School
Artist Statement: I created this artwork to show how my imagination and dreams grow when I read. I am surrounded by things I love, like music, nature, stars and animals coming out of my book. I used oil pastels because they give a soft, dreamlike feeling. Bright colors in my artwork show a peaceful and positive feeling. Through my art, I express my dreams and feelings, and the love I carry for the people and would around me. I always believe in myself and never give up on my dreams and goals. Maybe one day, I will exceed my dreams...

Title: When I was little
Artist: S'Niya S.
Age: 17
Grade: 11th
School: Arthur Poly Mays
Conservatory of the Arts
Art teacher: Gerald Obregon
Artist Statement: When I was little, I would sit cross legged on the floor with a pencil that felt too big for my hand and dreams that felt even bigger. I didn't know it then, but those quiet hours of drawing were my first maybe, the quiet beginning of a story still unfolding. My parents captured it just as it was, incomplete yet full of promise. Looking back, I think that moment has stayed with me as a reminder that we are all works in progress, still becoming, still living in our maybe. Each year, I have painted the stories od children, their hopes, their colors, their light. This year, I turned inward, searching for the same spark that once lived in my small, paint-stained hands. My piece is a meeting between who I was and who I am becoming, two versions of the same dreamer, still learning to see the world through wonder. When I was that little girl, I used to wonder who I might become. Maybe I would be an artist, a doctor, a lawyer, an astronaut. I had no idea I would grow into who I am now, an art student whose work has been shared in so many places with the hopes to inspire. Maybe by Kobi Yamada reminds me that we never truly know where our possibilities will lead, only that each one begins quietly, with curiosity and courage. My art reminds me that I am still in my maybe, still becoming, and that the journey itself is something extraordinary.

Title: The Need for Speed
Artist: Alicia G.
Age: 14
Grade: 9th
School: Arthur Poly Mays Conservatory of the Arts
Art teacher: Gerald Obregon
Artist Statement: Inspiration for this piece was based on my affinity for stairs. Whenever my parents would drive past a house with multiple stories, I would exclaim "I like that house!" The main reason is due to my neighborhood all being one story houses.
