I didn't need to become a different person. I needed to start paying attention to what I was telling myself.
I'm not good enough.
I'm going to screw this up.
They're judging me.
What if I fail?
We can repeat these things so often that we don't even realize we're saying them anymore.
What have you been telling yourself?
After interviewing over 50,000 people,
here's what I found — the people making the most
money weren't saying anything different. They were
thinking differently. Your nervous system closes the
deal, not just your script. You'll never outperform what
you believe your worth is. And the money beliefs you
formed as a child are still quietly influencing every
negotiation, every ask, every decision you make today.
Your strategy opens the door. Your subconscious
determines how far you'll go
High performance doesn’t have to be serious all the time. Sometimes you just have to laugh at the fact that your nervous system is always auditing the room.
Two brothers. Same father, same household, same painful childhood. One ended up in jail. One became a renowned doctor. When they asked each of them how they got there, both said the same thing — "Did you see the way I grew up?" Same circumstances. Completely different meaning.
That's perspective. And perspective is everything
Carl Munger was Warren Buffett's longtime business partner and one of the most successful investors in history. And he was known for something most people would never do — he was obsessed with finding out where he was wrong.
Before making any major decision he would ask himself — what am I missing? How could I be wrong? What would someone who disagrees with me say?
Most people spend their lives defending their opinions. Munger spent his life examining them. Not from a lack of confidence — but because of it.
He understood something most people never do. Intelligence isn't about always being right. It's about being willing to question your own thinking.
That's metacognition. And it might be the most underrated skill in business
After interviewing over 50,000 people I can tell you — I know who's going to succeed and who's going to give up based on one thing. Their vocabulary.
The words you say and the pictures you create in your head will either get you to where you want to go or keep you exactly where you are. It really is that simple
Doubt doesn't just slow you down — it makes decisions for you before you even try. "NO" is part of the formula for success. But if you start to just expect it, that's all you will get.
But if your intentions are "NO brings me closer to YES, keep going" then your "YES's" will find their way to you
The first 60 seconds after you wake up might be the most important programming you'll do all day. Your subconscious is listening before your feet ever hit the floor. Stop saying "I'm already behind." Stop saying "I have too much to do." Stop saying "I don't feel like it." Your nervous system hears those as threats and sets the tone for everything that follows.
Choose your first thoughts carefully. They become the blueprint for your entire day
