DĂa de la Independencia Argentina. It is officially celebrated on July 9, when Argentina claimed their independence from Spain
Independence Day occurred on July 9, 1816âor 9 de Julio as itâs called in Argentinaâwhen the Congress of Tucuman in the northern territories declared independence from Spain
Today, almost every settlement or town has a 9 de Julio street, Buenos Aires is not the exception, its main avenue is called Avenida 9 de Julio, and is the widest avenue in South America, with its traditional landmark , the obelisk in the centre.
July 9 is a national holiday and, this being Argentina, is a time for family and celebrations. And how do Argentinians celebrate? Eating and drinking, of course.
If you want to celebrate like a local, you must be sure to eat locro and pastelitos.
Locro is a thick stew that usually consists of pork or beef cuts, as well as ribs or offal, while some versions might include sausages and smoked bacon. Other ingredients include dry corn kernels (hominy), various spices, and vegetables such as pumpkin, potatoes, and yams. It is served with Malbec wine.
And, then, for tea time, Argentinians have their mate with pastelitos These crispy Argentinian pastries are typically star-shaped, while the center is filled with quince or sweet potato preserve (dulce). They are usually deep-fried and then brushed with a sugar glaze.

Good Morning Buenos!!!
Did you know that The front of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Plaza de Mayo is one of the most notable examples of The neoclassical style that began as a retort to the French baroque, returning to the classical architecture of Greek temples with columns, arches, triangular frontispieces and planes that highlight the hierarchies of space.
Following the demolition of the previous building, for 26 years the cathedral had only a facade and no interior. The new building, designed by Antonio Masella, was inaugurated in 1791 and the current portico with its Ionic columns, designed by PrĂłspero Catelin, was added 30 years later. The well-preserved frontispiece depicts the reunion of the patriarch Jacob with his son Joseph

Argentina pizza
Argentine pizza is completely unique to anything you will have tried before.
Argentine pizza has evolved over around 120 years to become the dish it is today. The first pizza bars were opened in the 19th century by immigrants from Naples and Genoa. From a combination of distorted memory, and different availability of ingredients the differences between Argentine pizza and Italian pizza are in the dough , which is typically very thin and high-rising for a crunchy texture. The pizza also has an abundance of cheese â the more cheese, the better the pizza. To be truly traditional, pizza should be cooked a la piedra (in a stone oven) and accompanied with beer!!!.
