When Ashley hit me with her concept, she told me just get her right and freestyle the lighting. For this shoot I used a 3 light setup and got really active. Let me know if I should start telling yall how I light certain sets, is that something yall would like?

I almost fumbled my biggest client, and I wouldn’t have even known it.

She wasn’t a celebrity. No blue check. No big budget. Just a regular booking that looked like any other Tuesday.

But I got on the phone. Asked her why the shoot mattered. And she told me everything, her business, her late grandmother, her comeback.

So I showed up differently. Moved my schedule. Gave her more than she paid for. Treated her story like it was sacred.

Months later, one of my dream clients slid into my DMs.
Come to find out, she was this woman’s god mom.
And the first thing they said to me was: “She’s the hardest person to impress. She never speaks highly of anyone. But she couldn’t stop talking about your character.”
Not my work. My character.

That’s when I understood, people aren’t just hiring your lens. They’re hiring who you are when nobody’s grading you.

Today was my first time serving at my church 🙏🏾

said “There’s a season where your service is seen, but your name is not.” I felt that.
Today I wasn’t Roo The Shooter building a portfolio.
I was just a servant with a camera, trying to honor something bigger than me.

I felt like every word was written for me.

Your gift will make room for you.
Your name will be spoken in rooms you’ve never been in.

So I’m not forcing doors.
I’m building. I’m serving. I’m trusting.

I didn’t pick up the camera for a brand today.
I picked it up for the One who gave me the eye in the first place.

Your gift will open the door.
Your faithfulness will keep it open.

I used to think lower prices got me in the room.
They don’t.
They tell the room you don’t belong yet.

I learned that the hard way
on a $10K opportunity I priced at $3K.

That wasn’t humility.
That was misalignment.

If your price feels safe…
it probably sounds small.

Big brands don’t negotiate confidence.
They select it.

This shoot came together in such a last minute way but the ex*****on was so dope. The best shoots often have a run and gun kind of vibe to them and the authenticity is what makes the shots come out so good.
