Learn to Dance Salsa for Seniors

Seniors, this one's for you. Join us for a salsa class where you'll learn the basic steps, meet other seniors, and burn a few calories while you're at it. No experience or partner needed, just come ready to move.

Every version of this promise was made to people living under someone else's power.

Psalm 37 was written for people watching the powerful take what they wanted and get away with it. It tells them the land will belong to the humble, the ones with no army and no leverage. Centuries later, Jesus stood on a hillside in an occupied country, in front of a crowd of the occupied, and quoted it back to them. Blessed are the meek. The earth is yours.

Read it as scripture or read it as history. Either way, it was written from underneath, by people told who they were allowed to be, and it has outlived every empire that did the telling.

We know that ground. Q***r people in 2026 live under laws written about us without us, care moved out of reach, families asked to prove they're real. We know what it is to be discussed in rooms we're kept out of.

The promise was always addressed to people like us. The ground under your feet is yours. Your life here is the inheritance.

Blessed are the q***r, for they will inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5

It's National Voter Registration Day, and registering takes about two minutes on your phone at RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov. Already registered? Use the same site to check your status and update your address if you've moved.

Florida's deadline to register for the November 3 election is October 5.

Rather do it in person? We'll have a registration table at the New Eden Jubilee Market this Saturday, September 19, 2 to 5:30 PM at UU Miami, 7701 SW 76th Ave. Free fresh food while you're there.

We don't tell anyone who to vote for. We just want every one of you counted.

Twenty-five years ago today, a clear September morning changed everything.

May we honor the dead by how we treat the living. May we choose courage over fear, and neighbor over stranger. May we heal this pain together, until peace is no longer our hope, but our home.

New Eden Jubilee Market returns Saturday, September 19, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at UU Miami, 7701 SW 76th Ave. Free fresh groceries, wellness resources, and a live DJ, all at no cost, for anyone who could use them.

Last month, 68 families walked home with full bags at our launch. This month there's a place for you too, and for anyone you love.
