Exciting changes are coming to the Metuchen Public Library Children’s Room! HUGE thanks to the Friends of the Metuchen Library and our amazing community for responding to their “Next Chapter” Fundraiser which helped make this project possible. Your support is bringing these improvements to life!
The Children’s Room will be closed for four weeks. While the space is being updated, a temporary Children’s area has been set up in the Lower Level Activity Room, with limited access to physical materials. Patrons may borrow and request children’s materials from any STELLA member library during the project with their Metuchen library card.

The Metuchen Town Wide Garage Sale has been moved to Sunday April 26th, 2026 due to the forecasted weather.
This week, during National Library Week, we had the honor of celebrating and appreciating our many library volunteers. This year’s theme “Find Your Joy at Your Library” is a perfect reflection of what happens here every day.
In 2025, the library’s 60+ volunteers completed close to 2,000 hours of service to the library – an average of 38.5 hours per week. They shelve materials, assist with programs, support events, fundraise, and lend their time in ways big and small. Those numbers do not include the Board of Trustees or the Board of the Friends of the Metuchen Library, who are all volunteers and work many hours per year for the betterment of the library and the library community.
Libraries today are more than buildings, they are places where people discover new passions, build skills, and come together. Volunteers help bring that mission to life and help people find their joy.
