๐จ PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE ๐จ
Candler County Emergency Management is partnering with Bulloch County EMA and the Tri-County 911 Center on a new AED registration initiative.
Beginning July 1, Georgiaโs new AED legislation will help 911 dispatchers identify nearby Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) during cardiac emergencies. The goal is simple โ get lifesaving equipment to people faster when every second matters.
We are asking businesses, churches, schools, gyms, industries, organizations, and community groups across Candler County to register any AEDs they may have in their facilities or vehicles.
The information will be accessible to 911 dispatchers and emergency responders to improve emergency response throughout our area.
If you have an AED, please take a few minutes to register it here:

This is a simple step that could help save a life.

Firefighters with Metter Fire Rescue have began annual fire hydrant testing throughout the City of Metter.
This yearly testing helps ensure hydrants are operating properly and ready when needed during emergencies. During this process, residents may notice water flowing from hydrants or temporary discoloration in water.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as our firefighters work to help keep our community protected.

Yesterday, Metter Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Boston St. Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from the residence and quickly worked to extinguish the fire.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported during this incident.
We would like to thank the City of Metter Public Works, Metter Police Department , and Candler County EMS for their assistance and support on scene.
Great teamwork by all agencies involved to help keep our community safe.
The Candler County burn ban has officially been lifted, and now is probably a good time to talk about what is okay to burn โ and what is absolutely not okay to burn.
Only natural vegetation and untreated natural materials are allowed to be burned. That includes things like:
๐ Leaves
๐ฟ Limbs and brush
๐ชต Untreated wood and yard debris
What is NOT legal to burn:
๐ซ Household garbage
๐ซ Tires
๐ซ Plastics
๐ซ Furniture
๐ซ Painted or treated wood
๐ซ Construction materials
๐ซ Chemicals or hazardous materials
Before you burn, you still need a burn permit.
โข If you live in Candler County outside the city limits, permits are issued through the Georgia Forestry Commission.
โข If you live inside the City of Metter, you must contact Metter Fire Rescue before burning.
Just because the burn ban is lifted does NOT mean conditions are always safe. Avoid burning on Red Flag Days, during windy conditions, or when humidity is extremely low. Weather conditions can change quickly, and one small fire can spread fast.
Before lighting anything:
โ Watch the weather
โ Keep water or tools nearby
โ Never leave a fire unattended
โ Have a plan if the fire starts to spread
Letโs do our part to keep our community safe and prevent unnecessary wildfires.
โ ๏ธ BURN BAN UPDATE โ ๏ธ
While the State of Georgia burn ban has been lifted,
Conditions across our community are still extremely dry, and the risk for fires to spread quickly remains high. We are asking everyone to please be patient and continue helping us keep our community safe.
So what does this mean?
๐ซ No outdoor burning of any kind.
๐ซ No burn barrels.
๐ซ No yard debris burning.
๐ซ No controlled burns.
๐ซ No recreational fires.
Even a small spark can quickly turn into a large grass or woods fire under current conditions.
We appreciate the support and cooperation from our community during this time. Please continue to stay alert and help us prevent unnecessary fires.
