Maximize the positive effects of reading at home

Reading at home boosts academic achievement. To make it a positive experience, look for high-interest books at the library with your child and refresh your supply often. Then, read them together. If your elementary schooler struggles with reading, take turns reading sentences. Pause from time to time and ask thought-provoking questions, like "What do you think will happen next?" Your child is more likely to be interested in reading if you set an example by reading often yourself.

☀️Tiger Summer Fun Series ☀️

This summer, Miss Madi Horist had the incredible opportunity to spend a week at Camp Oo-U-La, hosted by Camp Twin Lakes in partnership with the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. Camp Twin Lakes is a nonprofit organization that provides fully accessible, medically supportive camp experiences for children with serious illnesses, disabilities, and other life challenges, while the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation supports burn survivors through resources, education, and programs that promote healing and resilience.

During the week, Miss Horist built meaningful relationships with campers while participating in exciting activities such as swimming, boating, Wacky Olympics, and visits to the farm and horses. She watched campers challenge themselves, gain confidence, share their stories, and create lasting memories.

Reflecting on her experience, Miss Horist shared that the week reinforced the importance of community, resilience, and creating an environment where every child feels supported, included, and celebrated.

Thank you, Miss Horist, for spending part of your summer making a difference in the lives of others and bringing the heart of a Tiger to Camp Oo-U-La! 🧡🖤

This summer, Mrs. Miranda Thigpen and her family, hit the road for an unforgettable adventure through Ontario, Canada, with one spectacular destination at the top of their list—Niagara Falls!

Along the way, they explored beautiful towns, enjoyed breathtaking scenery, sampled some delicious Canadian treats, and made memories that will last a lifetime. One of the highlights of the trip was standing beside the mighty Niagara Falls, where the roar of the water could be heard from far away and the mist filled the air. The family even got an up-close look at one of the world’s most famous natural wonders!

Thank you, Mrs. Miranda for sharing your adventure with us.

Assign your child a chore or two

Chores teach children responsibility and the satisfaction that comes from making a meaningful contribution. Consider assigning your child one or two age-appropriate tasks. Be sure to explain each step, so your child will know exactly what you expect. Elementary schoolers can: Put away clean laundry. Wash dishes. Water plants. Help change sheets. Read to younger siblings. Help with projects around the house.

Daily Tips for Families Age-appropriate chores are an effective way to teach children how to take responsibility for themselves and how to be helpful to others. But what’s appropriate for your elementary-aged child?

☀️ Tiger Summer Fun Series ☀️

This summer, the Mrs. Jennifer Fail and family hit the road and traveled to Rossburg, Ohio, to celebrate a special milestone—their anniversary! What better way to celebrate than at the world-famous Dream Dirt Late Model Race at Eldora Speedway, where drivers competed for an incredible $100,000 prize?!

One of the highlights of their trip was meeting NASCAR driver Carson Hocevar and my all-time favorite Late Model driver, Jonathan Davenport. Even more exciting, Jonathan races the No. 49 car, the same number as Mr. Fail proudly races!

Before heading to the track, they made a stop at the legendary Whistle Stop Café, a favorite gathering place for local residents, race fans, and drivers alike. It was the perfect spot to enjoy a meal and soak up the racing atmosphere before the big event.

From meeting racing stars to experiencing one of dirt track racing’s most iconic events, their anniversary trip was full of unforgettable memories.

Stay tuned for more adventures in our Summer Fun Series and thank you Mrs. Jennifer Fail & Family for sharing yours! 🏁🧡🖤☀️
