Tamera is a beautiful 5-year-old brindle Chihuahua with a big personality and an even bigger heart.

This sweet girl loves nothing more than curling up beside her favorite person for snuggles and companionship. Once she trusts you, she is incredibly loyal, affectionate, and devoted. Tamera takes her job as protector seriously and will happily alert you when someone is at the door or when strangers are nearby.

Tamera is looking for a very special home where she can be the one and only pet. While she can occasionally coexist with other animals, she becomes jealous and territorial and is not comfortable sharing her people long-term. For her happiness and safety, she needs a home committed to keeping her as an only dog.

Double the treats, double the cuddles, and double the fun! Meet Jade (F) and Juno (M), a sweet and inseparable pair of 1.5-year-old siblings who are looking for their forever home together. They are a little larger in size at approximately 20 lbs each.

These lovable best friends are the ultimate package for a family wanting to skip the early puppy stages while still enjoying their playful, young energy. They are incredibly well-mannered, completely potty and crate-trained, and absolutely devoted to one another.

Meet Thelma Kay or Tiki as we call her.
She was part of a hoarding situation, and AZCR came to her rescue.
She is a 4lb 3oz Yorkie/ Chihuahua mix.
She needs a dog savvy owner that understands she needs a little bit more time to warm up to her new human.
She loves to be held, but she does need you to come down to her level, to be picked up. ( NEVER above her that scares her)
She is a beautiful reddish brown, and has the biggest sweetest eyes,and short little legs and a semi stout looking body.
She LOVES to play with other dogs, and she LOVES a tiny tennis ball and squeaky toys.
She will need to be part of a "pack" (With at least one other playful dog) to feel secure and really shine.
Due to her slightly fearful nature, she would not be good in a home with children under 10.

Please welcome Alfie to AZCR, we just picked him up today and will keep you updated as we get to know him. He does have some medical concerns and will see our Veterinarian. Heres what the shelter had to say about him:MEDICAL
Alfie weighs about 5lbs. This handsome gentleman is suspected to have severe luxating patellas that may require surgical intervention. Alfie is able to ambulate but has a crouched abnormal gait in his hindlimbs. It was also noted that Alfie a heart murmur that would ideally benefit from follow up with a veterinary cardiologist. Additionally, Alfie also needs a dental with extractions and is noted to be a unilateral cryptorchid. Alfie needs a rescue that is able to provide him with the specialized care he needs!

BEHAVIOR
Alfie is full of love! He is a very sweet boy and has been social and friendly with everyone in the shelter.

Timon is fully recovered from his dental (minus a dozen or so teeth 😵‍💫), and is ready for adoption. He should appear on the website next week, but putting the word out now. He's 12 years old. He was with the same family since he was a puppy, but they surrendered him because they're moving out of the country. He's good with other dogs of all sizes and is fine with our cat. He was raised with kids as well.

Licorice is the dog of the day and he is ready for adoption! 💙
He will need an adult only home. He has been through behavioral training and he takes prozac for aggression. (The aggression he had was biting the hand of strangers who touched him). Training and prozac have helped! He will likely be on prozac until late 2026 then will be tapered off and will hopefully no longer be on meds. The veterinarian said he could grow out of this behavior. His behavior has tremendously improved and he hasn't bitten anyone in over 6 months.

Licorice is young, about 2-3 years old, and weighs about 8 pounds. He is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He loves going for walks and car rides. He loves to cuddle 😍 He is potty trained. He gets along fairly well with other small animals.

Hey there, I’m LuLu aka Louise! I might just be a one-year-old pocket-sized pup (6 lbs.), but my personality is larger than life! I combine the bold, sassy spirit of a Chihuahua with the sweet, aristocratic elegance of a Japanese Chin.
What makes me so special:
Your Ultimate Shadow: I form deep bonds with my humans and love nothing more than being your little best buddy.
Playful & Quirky: I love zooming around the backyard or playing a game of catch me if you can, or doing my famous little happy-dance when you come home or break out the treats!
A Total Cuddle Bug: Once I’ve burned off my puppy energy, my favorite place is curled right up in your lap. Sometimes I even perch on the back of the couch like a cat!
Quirky Behaviors: I do not like being crated for more than a few minutes to eat meals. If left in longer, I will hurt myself. My foster mom also says that I’m part rooster, because my bark is more like a very loud cock-a-doodle-do! I’m just beginning to learn to use my inside voice much to the neighbor’s delight.
My Perfect Home:
I’m a wonderful companion who thrives on being around my people. I get along well with other small dogs, but my energy is sometimes bothersome to the older dogs in my foster home. I’d do best in a home with respectful older children or adults who know how to play gently with a small dog. I don't need miles of running, just a couple of short, fun walks a day to sniff the world and stretch my legs. I’m just beginning to learn what a leash is for….I thought it was for chewing at first! I’m also a pro at racing in and out the doggie door already!

Phoebe here,
I'm 8 years old and weigh 8 pounds. I have Alopecia so I need to wear shirts in the sun. I have a habit of licking the air most of the time. I have a minor Incontinence issue when I sleep. I use the doggie door like a champ. Phoebe is timid at first but warms up quickly. She loves to sleep In her people's lap.
